Legendary Danish production outfit returns!
The Danish production trio The Prunes made a short but indelible run on the international beat and trip hop-scenes in the mid-late nineties. Their dark, brooding sound, reeking of aerosol and dusty record basements, made its way onto releases on Mo’ Wax as well as remixes for the Beastie Boys, DJ Krush and DJ Vadim - classic material championed by the likes of DJ Shadow, Kid Loco and Gaslamp Killer.
While a full-length album never materialised, The Prunes released two highly sought-after EPs - Tracks From the Darkside Vol. 1 & 2 - in 1995-96. Now, 30-ish years later, they’re opening the vaults with the release of Tracks From the Darkside Volume 3, out on Rekords Records and Lizard Shakedown. The LP features tracks made from 1993-97, which have been carefully selected, edited and mixed by current DK Beat scene luminary Shatter Hands and mastered by Saqib Hassan.
Tracks From the Darkside Volume 3 will be released 28 February 2025 on limited vinyl by Rekords Records & digitally by Lizard Shakedown.

Legendariske Prunes åbner arkivet
Producer-trioen The Prunes er et af de mest sagnomspundne navne i dansk hiphop. Der gik et kun lille års tids fra deres første krediterede produktioner på Al Agamis album Covert Operations i 1993 til hvad der skulle vise sig som et regulært internationalt gennembrud. Deres remix af Beastie Boys’ single Sure Shot - foranlediget af Jeppe Bisgaard, en af dansk hiphops absolutte Godfathers - banede vej for udgivelser på bl.a. trip hop-giganten Mo’ Wax, der stadig giver genlyd i internationale beatkredse.
Foruden de internationale eventyr har trioen også sat et eftertrykkeligt aftryk på dansk hiphop. Deres mørke, tunge og breakbeat-fokuserede lyd er ren graffiti-musik; et minde om en svunden tid med de gamle S-Toge og en hiphop-scene, der gennemsyrede dansk ungdomskultur fra A-Å - godt hjulpet på vej grund af Prunes-medlemmerne Peder og Simons banebrydende radioshow Gramsespektrum. De var, skulle det vise sig, nemlig så meget mere end et slime-band.
The Prunes nåede aldrig at udgive et egentligt album - det tætteste er de to EP’er Tracks From the Darkside Vol. 1 & 2, udgivet i 1995-96. Men nu, små 30 år efter, udkommer Tracks From the Darkside Volume 3 på Rekords Records og Peders eget label Lizard Shakedown. EP’en er sammensat af en af de fremmeste repræsentanter fra den danske beatscene i dag - Shatter Hands fra Super Bad Disco - der har udvalgt og editeret numre fra The Prunes’ arkiver. Samtlige tracks på udgivelsen er produceret mellem 1993-97, men har samlet støv på harddiske og MPC’er siden.
Tracks From the Darkside Volume 3 udkommer d. 28. februar og er mastereret af selveste Saqib Hassan. Udgives i begrænset antal på vinyl på Rekords Records og digitalt via Lizard Shakedown.
